Apas open(ed)
An apas is open(ed) when the access point
affords free passage
Apas violation
Unauthorised operation of an access point

Operating mode which requires the user to
be present in a designated security controlled
area in order to be able to enter another
security controlled area.
Anti-Passback
Operating mode which requires user
validation when leaving a security controlled
area In order to be able to re-enter and vice
versa
Audit trail
A report of any changes made to a system.
Biometrics
Information which is referring to unique
physiological attributes of the user
Break Glass
Usually a mechanical switch which breaks
power going to the lock.
Clock and Data
A specific data communication protocol
which is an industry standard for the serial
transmission of information.
Controlled Area
An area where the entrances and exits are
controlled by an access control system.
Degraded Mode
Mode where access is granted without
performing all the full processing
Duress Alarm
Information providing the same results as a
memorised information and
which initiates an alert
Door Command Facility
Facility that allows an authorised computer
operator to open / close a door on the
system from their terminal
Door Open Time
The time allowed for an access point to
remain open after a valid authentication.
Door Strike
An electro-mechanical device used to lock
and unlock a door under electrical control.
Egress Button
Also referred to as push button (PB), exit
button (EB) or request to exit button (RTE).
